A female SMU student reported that she was assaulted Friday morning as she rode her motorbike to campus.

She stopped at an intersection in University Park to check her tires. A man attacked her, pushed her to the ground and began to choke her.

The student fought back and the attacker ran away. When she arrived on campus, she reported the incident to the SMU Police Department and gave a description.

The attacker is described by police as a white or Hispanic male, about 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark or blue hooded sweatshirt.

The attacker has not been caught. SMU police are asking anyone with information to call 214-768-3388. Information also may be reported anonymously through the Silent Witness Program by calling 214-SMU-2TIP or online at http://www.smu.edu/2tip.
