Campus News Blog: Unprocessed and Raw Foods Can Help Your Health

There’s a new diet trend in town — eating raw. A raw food diet typically consists of eating uncooked and unprocessed plant foods, like veggies, nuts, grains, and fruits. Some experts believe heating food above 116 Fahrenheit destroys the enzymes in food that help you absorb and digest your food.
This kind of diet could really help out college students and young adults with some of the benefits being more energy, weight loss, better digestion, and better skin. Although being on a raw food diet would be a full-time commitment and tough for a student with limited time on their hands.
If you want to experience this raw lifestyle but don’t want to fully commit to cooking and eating it full time you can check out the restaurant Bliss, a raw café and elixir bar. The small café (11 barstools and 30 patio seats) located on upper Greenville only serves uncooked vegetarian sips and bites. Their best entrees include burgers, tacos, sandwiches, salads, and pizza, all without meat. They also serve handmade alcohol-free cocktails with ingredients like hemp seed and goji berries. So if you’re looking for something a little healthier and outside the box this is the place for you.
