Program Council ‘First Friday’ brought Mister Softee’s Ice Cream to campus on Friday Oct. 2. The ice cream truck rolled onto campus around 11 a.m. The first 50 students that came to the truck were able to receive a free cone with their choice of chocolate or vanilla ice cream courtesy of the SMU alumni association.
Mister Softee was founded in 1956 and has grown to be the major franchiser of soft ice cream trucks in the United States. Mister Softee has about 350 franchise dealers operating 600 trucks in 15 states. The franchises also operate in the United Kingdom and China.
Program Council’s ‘First Friday’ series aims to bring together the SMU community and celebrate the diversity found in the SMU student body, through fun, creative and education programming. They strive to enhance the awareness of self, others, and the entire university community.
The partnership of SMU’s Program Council and Mister Softee benefited Mister Softee’s business while SMU mustangs relaxed with a sweet and frosty treat.
Program Council’s next First Friday event is scheduled for Nov. 5, 2009. For more information contact Allison Blake at ablake@smu.edu or visit the Program Council website.
