Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Releases Tuesday
November 4, 2009
On November 10th, the year’s most anticipated videogame will hit stores across the globe. Picking up where Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare left off, Modern Warfare 2 features new combat scenarios that range from snowy mountaintops in Siberia to the crowded streets of Rio de Janiero, Brazil.
Although official sales figures for pre-orders have yet to be released, many industry analysts are already predicting record-breaking numbers. The current record holder is Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV, which sold 3.6 million copies and brought in $310 million on launch day.
Retailers Wal-Mart and GameStop are both planning midnight sales events for the release, as gamers flock to the stores to buy the game when the doors open, and then bring it home to stay up all night trying it out.
The GameStop on Hillcrest, next to the Chick-fil-a, is the closest place to find the game on Tuesday. But if midnight frenzies aren’t for you, there’s always Amazon.
The game is priced at a standard $59.99 on three platforms: Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC
