According to the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office, SMU student Joseph Hunter Green, 21, was found dead in his room Friday around 12:30 p.m. in the former Kappa Alpha fraternity house.

A statement from SMU officials said that “no foul play was involved” and that the Texas Rangers and the medical examiner’s office are helping SMU with the investigation.

A medical examiner’s representative said an initial autopsy conducted Saturday was inconclusive and additional toxicology and microbiology test results will determine the cause of death in 8 to 12 weeks.

Earlier Friday afternoon, caution tape blocked off the back entrance to the former fraternity house, now used as a residence hall. Six SMU police vehicles were parked outside the building as police were investigating inside.
