Tulsa Hurricane Blows Over Volleyball Team

The Lady Mustangs volleyball team was dealt its first conference loss Tuesday night in four sets (15-25, 26-24, 20-25, 23-25) against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

Tulsa easily won game one 25-15 with strong play by senior Beth Hodge.

The Mustangs came back and won game two 26-24, but when Tulsa pulled away in the third, the Mustangs were unable to respond and lost the match in four games.

Despite the loss, libero Sidney Stewart led the defense with 25 digs, and senior Natalie Peters led the team with five kills and a .385 hitting percentage.

The Mustangs fall to 6-5 record this year, while the Golden Hurricane improve to an impressive 11-1.

SMU will travel to a tournament in Denver this weekend to take on Georgia State Friday at 5 p.m. Play continues Saturday against the University of Nevada, Las Vegas at 10 a.m. and the University of Denver at 7:30 p.m.
