The Association of Black Students hosted their second annual “Give Thanks” dinner Friday, Nov. 21 in the Hughes-Trigg Varsity.

Courtni Gray, one of the event’s organizers, said the dinner was created after some friends were not able to go home for Thanksgiving.

“It helps to give them a sense of home,” she said.

Red and gold centerpieces, along with the other splashes of fall decorations, helped bring a touch of the holiday season home to students, some who might not get travel home for the holiday.

The dinner was complete with a traditional turkey, sweet potatoes and the rest of the trimmings. Students enjoyed their meals while discussing what they were thankful for this year.

Entertainment was provided by “Voices”, a vocal group associated with ABS and Beverly Johnson, who sang “Give Thanks”.

Participants filled out pieces of paper explaining for what they were thankful. The responses were put inside of the “Thankful Pumpkin” which will be located within the SAMSA throughout the holiday season.
