Video gamers have one more reason not to put down that control.

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) along with the Guildhall at SMU announced their “Academy Scholar” program.

The scholarship, which begins fall semester of this year, will award one graduate level candidate in the Guildhall program $10,000 per semester.

The Guildhall is one of the top graduate video game education programs in the US. In five years, over 250 students and alums have worked in over 80 video game studios all over the world.

A panel of AIAS and SMU board members will decide to whom the scholarship will be awarded this coming school year. The board will evaluate each admission portfolio and assign a number. The numbers will then be averaged and the applicant with the highest number will be awarded the scholarship.
