Campus News Blog: Greek Life Has a Full Calendar

Several times I have run into the obstacle of trying to hang out with my Greek friends on a Monday, but chapter meetings always take precedence.
I am not complaining about regular chapter meetings. I understand the meetings are a part of pledging a fraternity or sorority. I realize how much time and energy goes into being a student and being involved in Greek life. Balancing studies, social events, and community projects can be tough on the psyche of a 19-year-old.
The Greek calendar this semester proves that Greek members’ time is limited. The difference with their calendar and non- Greeks, I think, is that theirs are mandatory. At any time I am free to cut something from my Blackberry.
I think at times there is a perception that it is an easy job being both student and Greek. But most of their calendars have more events than mine.
