This morning, as many people were still asleep, Prince William and Catherine Middleton tied the knot. The ceremony at Westminster Abbey in London was nothing short of perfect. From the dress, to the guests, the Royal Wedding did not disappoint.

The Wedding Dress

The press has been buzzing since the engagement about Kate’s dress designer. As she left the Goring Hotel, the world got a glimpse of her Alexander McQueen gown and a sigh of approval was heard around the world. The McQueen dream was designed by Sarah Burton and featured a tasteful v-neck with long lace sleeves, a corseted top and a full skirt. The train of the dress was the perfect length, very elegant.

Of course no princess’s look would be complete without a tiara. Middleton’s was a diamond studded Cartier number lent to her by Queen Elizabeth.

The Fashion

From royals to celebrities, the wedding guests were dressed to impressed. Many attendees wore extravagant hats. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s daughter, Beatrice, wore an overstated bow topper that matched her Valentino jacket.

Victoria Beckham wore her own design in a dark hue, and a headpiece designed by Philip Treacy as her husband, David Beckham donned a top hat.

Middleton’s mother wore a light blue dress and jacket with a coordinating hat, while her sister, Pippa, the Maid of Honor, donned a stunning figure hugging ivory floor-length gown created by Sarah Burton.

The Queen shined in a yellow dress and matching jacket and a classic three strand pearl necklace. Of course Prince William and Prince Harry were dressed to the nines as well, both wearing ceremonial uniforms, William in red and Harry in navy.

The Couple- and the Kiss

When the couple first laid eyes on each other in Westminster Abbey each of them smiled genuinely. The wedding was described as having a relaxed feeling, presumably because the couple is so comfortable and in love. After the vows were said and the papers were signed, the couple left the church jovially- and continued to smile brightly as their carriage arrived at Buckingham Palace. Of course, no wedding is complete without a kiss. A little after 7:25 a.m., the couple appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace and briefly locked lips. Apparently the crowd wanted more, so the couple went in for a second smooch a few minutes later.

It’s official, the perfectly poised Princess Catherine and Prince William are married, and their big day was done in style.
