SMU’s Heart Beats for Haiti Holds Prayer Vigil

As part of SMU’s Heart Beats for Haiti, the Perkins Student Association will host a campus wide prayer vigil for the people of Haiti on Friday, Feb. 12 at 12:30 p.m. by the flag pole at the top of the boulevard.

SMU is closed until noon Friday due to inclement weather. However, event organizers sent out an email Thursday afternoon confirming that the vigil will still go forward on Friday unless SMU officials extend the closure beyond 12:30 p.m.

For the one month anniversary of the Haitian earthquake, the vigil will be a time of solidarity for the SMU campus to reflect on the hardships that the Haitian people have endured.

The vigil should only last half an hour, so students will be able to attend 1 p.m. classes.
