A new food trend is eating locally. Making sure you know where the food is coming from and supporting your local farmers. Eating and buying locally help your health, the community, and the environment. And who doesn’t want to do that?
So now you’re wondering, where can I get all this delicious local food, right? The most well-known and convenient place would be Central Market. But if you want to go even more local and really support community there are many Farmer’s Markets and small stores to visit in the Dallas area.
If you are going to a farmer’s market for the first time you should do a little research. First find out which fruits and vegetables are in season. You can do this by researching online and by asking the vendors once you are there. They are always happy to share their expertise with you.
Once you get there look around. Don’t buy the first strawberries you see! Instead walk the market and taste test what the vendors have to offer. Don’t be scared to try new things, chances are its probably wonderful.
The last important thing to know about a farmer’s market is food that is organic and grown locally tends to spoil earlier. You should only buy products you will use in the next week, longer than that and your food will probably go bad.
