In a new video feature, sports editors Robby Gillespie of The Daily Mustang and Chris Dell of The Daily Campus talk SMU sports. This week, they analyze the men’s basketball team and its matchup on Wednesday with Memphis at Moody Coliseum, while also weighing in on football signing day.

The SMU men’s basketball team (6-13, 1-6 C-USA) takes on its toughest opponent this season Wednesday night at home against Memphis (18-3, 7-0 C-USA).

Memphis (14, AP) has had little trouble with conference opponents this season. They sit atop the C-USA standings with an undefeated conference record. Last season, they finished conference play with a perfect 16-0 record.

Similar to last year’s team a freshmen leads the team in points. Guard Tyreke Evans leads Memphis with 16.3 pts/game, followed by Robert Dozier, who had a significant role in last year’s national championship run, with 11.8 pts/game.

In 2008, Memphis swept the season series with SMU, winning at home 77-48, and in Moody Coliseum 72-55.

Memphis has won 12 straight and is coming off a 15 point win against Houston.

The Mustangs are on a four game losing streak, and have only one conference win (against Tulsa). The Mustangs will have to play their best game of the season to challenge the Tigers.

Game time is Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Moody Coliseum.
